July 2014: Maher Terminal loses bid to lower port authority fees

 

Maher terminal had to pay its fees to port authority after it lost it’s bid to reduce the said fees. This was due to U.S. District Judge Kevin McNulty denying Maher’s claims that improper fees were being charged per the support costs of deepening port channels.

June 2014: Deutsche Bank considers selling Maher terminal

In 2007, the Deutsche Bamk spent $2.3 billion to acquire Maher terminal at it’s height in the pre-recession boom. However, current estimates show that the Terminal can only be sold in its entirety for only $800 million to $1 billion; a fraction of it’s original cost.
This could be as a result of the reduction of volume in the Terminals post 2008-2009.
